1. Stay in a hotel with a view of the beautiful lake
We highly recommend staying in a hotel with a beautiful view of Lake Bled. We stayed at Grand Toplice Hotel in a Lake View room and let us just say... it was like being in a fairy tale. The balcony view was simply magical. The hotel has a beautiful traditional interior, which complements the incredible views of Lake Bled
During our stay we had half board so breakfast and dinner was included. Breakfast is buffet style and there is definitely something for everyone, we especially enjoyed the make it yourself waffles. Dinner is a la carte with a different delicious new menu each day and very fancy.
2. Explore Bled on Bikes
In our opinion the best way to explore Bled's beauty is to hire ebikes. Ebikes are like ordinary bicycles but with an electronic motor which give you assistance with a touch of a button and has controls to increase/decrease the level of assistance. This was really helpful as it can be quite hilly in Bled. We hired ours from Pr1motourswho are really friendly and a tour company we highly recommend. They even provide you with a free voucher to taste the famous Bled cream cake! Primo, the owner showed us all the possible places that we could visit on the map. We went to Vintgar Gorge, SV. Katarina and then back to Lake Bled.
Our highlight of the trip was probably cycling around Lake Bled, as the lake is huge you can cycle around leisurely, stop off to take photos and view the lake from all angles, really taking the beauty in.
3. Dine at Bled Castle
Bled Castle is the oldest castle in Slovenia and is situated at the top of a cliff, overlooking Bled. Within the Castle, you can dine at the restaurant, where you can enjoy delicious food whilst admiring the beautiful view. Dining at the restaurant also means that entrance to the castle is free!! Can you get any better than that?
Now if you google image Lake Bled, you will probably see photos of THAT bench and the island in the lake. Well that photo is only a 40 minute-ish hike from Lake Bled.
You will find a sign for Ojstrica and Osojinica, you want to follow the signs for Ojstrica as that has the best view (in our opinion)
It is a bit tough as it is 610m high and involves a dirt path, so do be careful. However once you get to the top it is so worth it!
So as we are both massive foodies, as soon as our hotel told us about a restaurant (Pizzerija Ema) that is known for its massive pizzas, we had to go there!
Its on the way to Lake Bohinj and is definitely worth a visit - the food is delicious, they serve huge portions and its fairly priced.
Bled is an absolutely beautiful place to visit and there is so much to do there, here is a few photos from our trip and we recommend visiting all these beautiful places.
